My deepest sympathies for your loss. Mr. Running was a great inspiration for me, not only because of his art, but all the ways he taught me about life. I took numerous classes from him in my art education and it amazes me still how much I learned from him outside of art and technique. He embodied Luther for me. He was present, expert, accepting, patient, interested, and inspirational. I think of Orville Running often and will always be grateful to have known him.

I have many memories of Orville preaching on a Sunday at United Lutheran in Zumbrota. I had hoped to attend his funeral service but a recent fall prevents my presence.
The Running Family made significant contributions to the Zumbrota community and to United Lutheran Church.

To Orville's family, Our sympathies to you all. He was a wonderful, warm, and friendly man. I got to know him when he was my pastor at Hauge's Church. We were fortunate to have him and all his wonderful family. Thoughts and prayers, Elaine and Jerry Thompson

Orv was such a wonderful man who had an extremely blessed and long life. My condolences to his family (especially my friends Marjorie, George, Phillip & Julia Wharton).
Before I left Decorah (the first time), I purchased several pieces of art from Orv. They make me happy every day I see them--I always appreciate the connection to Decorah/NE Iowa the images provide, as well as the masterful hands that created them.
Orville's legacy lives on in the thousands and thousands of people he inspired and touched.

My heart is heavy to read of Orville Running's death, and I also celebrate his life. He was a very special man and artist. We have had one of his paintings in my family home since I was very young and is now in my home. It has been and will continue to be a treasure to all of us, a reminder of a remarkable person.
My brief conversations with Mr. Running from years ago left me with a calm sense of joy and respect. My condolences to his family and friends. We celebrate this life.
